Craig Counsell is arguably the most successful former Miami Hurricane to reach the MLB. Counsell was a member of the Hurricanes’ 1989 College World Series team, and he was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 1992 MLB Draft. Counsell played for six different teams during his 15-year career, including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Milwaukee Brewers, and Florida Marlins. He was a two-time All-Star and won two World Series championships. He also managed the Brewers to the playoffs in three consecutive seasons (2011-2013).
Pat Burrell
Pat Burrell was a standout outfielder on the Hurricanes’ 1998 College World Series team. He was selected first overall by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 1998 MLB Draft, and he spent the majority of his 11-year career with the team.
